The 2026 Tianjin Happy Dongli Lake Half Marathon began in Tianjin's Dongli district on April 12. A total of 5,000 participants from across the country embarked on a 21.0975-kilometer journey along a beautiful scenic route.
The course started at the plaza of the national 4A-level tourist attraction, Happy Valley, allowing runners to experience the scenic beauty and fresh greenery of the Dongli Lake National Ecological Tourism Demonstration Area.
The event featured a comprehensive safety and support system. Medical stations were set up every 2.5 km, with mobile emergency personnel and first aid runners on standby.
To further improve the experience, interactive and entertainment installations were set up. A photo booth proved particularly popular, producing personalized "front-page newspaper" images featuring iconic Dongli Lake scenery for runners to print and take home.
This event was not just a sporting spectacle but also a strategic effort by Dongli district to integrate agriculture, commerce, cultural tourism, and sports. The concurrent "Happy Market" included over 30 booths showcasing local specialties and products.
Although the marathon has concluded, Dongli Lake continues to harness excitement for sports to boost urban vitality.
