Tianjin's Dongli district has delivered notable progress in public well-being during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period, advancing integrated development across culture, tourism, and sports to meet growing community needs.
A districtwide public cultural service network has taken shape, anchored by four major cultural venues and supported by 11 subdistrict cultural centers, 11 urban study rooms, and 106 community service hubs, ensuring residents can access cultural facilities within a 15-minute walk.
Digital services have further expanded access, with online programs from the district library recording more than 300,000 visits. The district has also hosted over 200 cultural performances, 60 exhibitions, and a range of intangible cultural heritage workshops, with two local institutions recognized as municipal-level centers for intangible cultural heritage experiences.
Tourism has gained momentum, with Dongli Lake emerging as a key leisure destination, having been designated a national sports tourism demonstration base due to its sailing events, wetland scenery, and ICH markets. New tourism complexes have taken shape at the lake's flower market and Caiyuanzi Farm, featuring fishing, karting, and other activities. Lakeview Castle and the New Tianjin Steel Industrial Tourist Scenic Area have also earned 4A and 3A ratings, respectively, with tourism visits and revenue rising significantly since 2019.
The district has built 3.36 square meters of sports facilities per capita and expanded neighborhood access to fitness facilities, with more than 3,400 trained fitness instructors serving local communities and delivering over 30 fitness programs each year.
Dongli will continue to promote integrated culture–tourism–sports development to provide higher-quality public services for residents.
