In recent years, Dongli has comprehensively promoted local traditional Chinese culture, persistently optimized measures for the protection and inheritance of cultural heritage, and achieved new progress in promoting cultural inheritance and development.
Dongli district, located in the eastern part of Tianjin municipality, has a history dating back to the Spring and Autumn and Warring States Periods (770-221 BC). It has been an important transportation hub and commercial center in history.
To consolidate the measures for inheritance and protection, Dongli has carried out the declaration and recognition of intangible cultural heritage projects. Currently, the district has one national-level, 14 municipal-level, and 37 district-level intangible cultural heritage projects. It is currently working on the declaration of the fifth batch of district-level intangible cultural heritage projects.
In addition, Dongli has deepened the integration between intangible cultural heritage and fields such as tourism, and sports. Displays of intangible cultural heritage projects have been organized and for sale at important events and major tourism destinations: Dazheng paper-cutting and Chitu braised pork being set up in three national A-level tourist attractions as well as being provided as special food supplies for the Dongli Lake Half Marathon event.
Moreover, Dongli has been expanding the channels for publicity and promotion of the local intangible cultural heritage. Traditional foods have been showcased at this year’s China Tourism Industry Expo; projects like Changxiang stilts and Wangpai fast clapperboard have been promoted to local primary and secondary schools so as to promote knowledge of cultural relics, and create a strong social publicity atmosphere.
In the future, Dongli will forge ahead in promoting cultural inheritance and development, and welcome visitors to come to the area and experience the charm of Dongli culture.
