During the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20), Dongli district has established a three-level urban forest park system, focused on creating an ecological and habitable environment, and provided people with a green living space.

Since 2021, Dongli has invested 238 million yuan (about $34 million) to build a landscape ecological park in Huzhangzhuang, which covers an area equivalent to 56 standard football pitches. Focusing on afforestation, more than 7,000 new trees have been planted, allowing local residents to enjoy the leisure brought by the original ecological park.
Since the 13th Five-Year Plan, the construction of a forest park system in Dongli district has made great process. More than 3 billion yuan has been invested to build two major green barriers in the northern and southern parts of Dongli, and to build two major forest park systems with a total area of 146 square kilometers. In the north, the construction of the "northern ecological corridor" of Dongli Lake, Huaming and Jinzhong was driven by the ecological park in Huzhangzhuang; while in the south, the Haihe green core and the ancient coastal green corridor have been built.
The newly increased afforestation area is 11.4 square kilometers, and the forest coverage rate has reached 27.1%, forming a new forest park system pattern of "one corridor, two cores, two rings and six areas". Dongli park, Xinli park, and other forest parks have attracted a large number of residents.
Over the past five years, Dongli has concentrated on the construction of large green spaces in the urban area, with more than 100 new green spaces and 20 community squares having been built.
