Dongli is giving priority to ecological environment construction as an important strategy for sustainable development, creating a green and habitable city for the local people.

After five years of forest management, the 50-meter-wide forest corridor behind the Haihe river in Dongli has over 100 different plant species and has become a pleasant ecological landscape.
Over the past five years, Dongli has intensively carried out the construction of large green spaces in the urban area, has promoted the construction of parks, and has improved the beautification of the central urban area. Meanwhile, Dongli has also implemented other actions to help build over 100 green spaces on its streets, as well as in 20 community squares and 1,000 afforested residential courtyards, allowing the area to attain its goal of providing green areas for the local people to spend their time in. This reasonable green space pattern has improved the overall environment of the urban area in Dongli.
Since 2018, Dongli has invested more than 3 billion yuan ($450,859,134) in building two major green ecological barriers, with a total area of 146 square kilometers. The newly increased afforested area is 11.4 square kilometers, with the forest coverage rate reaching 27.1%.

In addition, Dongli has also continued to strengthen the management of 17 rivers, with a total length of 200 kilometers, having upgraded the green space on the both sides of the rivers and extracting the ecological and economic benefits.
