There are nearly 50 auto parts suppliers and automotive sci-tech firms including China Automotive Technology and Research Center in the Dongli Economic Development Area. Their industrial output combined totals 10 billion yuan.
The economic development zone will grasp new opportunities arising from the upgrading of the automotive industry, focus on research and development of electricity-driven and hydrogen-driven fuel cell vehicles, and emphasize system integration of intelligent internet-connected vehicles and core components of new energy vehicles in a move to build a cluster of new-generation automotive industries.
The economic development zone has designated a 5.53-km road section to test the commercial feasibility of self-driving vehicles. The World Intelligent Driving Challenge, held in Dongli district for four straight years, has become a platform for intelligent internet-connected car makers to conduct cross-sector and cross-region cooperation.
