The Dongli Airport Economic Zone, which covers an area of 14.18 square kilometers, is an important component of the airport area affiliated with the China (Tianjin) Pilot Free Trade Zone and Tianjin Cross-border E-commerce Innovation Pilot Zone. Now it is striving to become a national demonstration area for the airport economy.
It is positioned to become an international, intelligent, modern and ecological urban airport economic zone. There are five functional zones, namely the central business district, the airport-related industrial area, the aerospace services area, the sci-tech innovation area and the Jinqiao Industrial Zone, in the airport economic zone.
The airport economic zone is committed to developing cross-border e-commerce, aircraft logistics, headquarter offices, high-end businesses, sci-tech research and high-end manufacturing.
1. Advantages
The airport economic zone is close to Tianjin Binhai International Airport and is connected to the downtown area of Tianjin, as well as the Binhai New Area, by the S103 Expressway and Tianjin-Binhai New Area Expressway. The construction of the Beijing-Binhai New Area Inter-city Railway will create additional transport advantages for the airport economic zone.
The airport economic zone has been aided by multiple support policies because of its strategic position.
2. Industrial development
The airport economic zone has brought together over 40 air services firms. such as Tianjin Binhai International Airport, Air China and China National Aviation Fuel Group. Statistics show that their annual tax contributions have surpassed 100 million yuan and that their annual passenger throughput and freight volume have reached 20 million people and 230,000 tons, respectively.
As the first pilot area for cross-border e-commerce in Tianjin, the airport economic zone has gathered over 50 cross-border e-commerce firms with more than 30 overseas warehouses. Its annual two-way trade volume has totaled about two billion yuan. It was approved in 2018 to become an e-commerce service outsourcing base.
The airport economic zone has become a central area for the development of cross-border e-commerce in Tianjin.
The airport economic zone has advantages in terms of research and development of civil aviation technologies due to its proximity to the Civil Aviation University of China.
The university, which is only one kilometer away from the zone, boasts about 28,000 students, 23 teaching units, 34 undergraduate majors, six vocational majors, one academic discipline with education for doctoral students and 17 academic disciplines with education for graduate students.
