Tianjin's Huaming Machine Tool Museum is a public museum approved by Tianjin Cultural Heritage Bureau. Its Dongli exhibition area covers more than 2,000 square meters and its Huaming exhibition area is bigger, at more than 6,000 square meters.
The museum is free to the public, and its annual reception capacity is nearly 30,000 people. The museum displays machine tools from various countries as well as civil machinery such as hand-sewing machines and old-fashioned radios. The exhibits cover all kinds of machine tools made in more than 10 countries including Germany, Switzerland and the United States. Some of the machine tools come from Tianjin and other Chinese cities, since these tools made great contributions during China’s reform and opening-up and witnessed the country's tremendous transformation.
The exhibition at the Huaming museum carries the theme of “exploring historical roots, keeping industrial heritages, telling different stories and witnessing the changes of the time”. It plays an important role in popularizing and encouraging science and education. The museum has more than 300 machine tools in its collection. Among them are over 30 large machine tools, about 1,000 pieces of civil machinery and six popular science models introduced from the Tianjin Science and Technology Museum.
The exhibition halls also include a civil industrial products area, a popular science maker space, technological communication area, audience resting area and a fast-food area.
