"Luotuofangzi" roast chicken is a distinctive halal food produced by the Juxiangzhai Halal Food Professional Cooperative in Tianjin. The company is located in Jinqiao Street, a community inhabited by people of the Hui ethnic group in Dongli.
The cooking method of "Luotuofangzi" halal roast chicken dates back 158 years, handed down from Tai'an, Shandong Province to locla chef Han Tingyu in Tianjin in 1970 and then to Liu Jinzhu in 1991. Liu further improved the roast chicken recipe to make it appeal to the tastes of people in Tianjin and North China. As Liu is a native of Luotuofagnzi village, people named the roast chicken after the village.
