Tianjin has delivered a seminar in preparation for the World Intelligence Driving Challenge (WIDC), which is due to be held in the city's Dongli district from May 21-23.

The meeting was co-held by the China Automotive Technology & Research Center (CATARC) in Tianjin and the Dongli authorities.

Attendees heard that improvements have been made to enrich the competition and improve the contest rules, with the aim of diversifying the event and showcasing automotive intelligent application scenarios in real life.

As part of the World Intelligent Congress (WIC), the event aims to present a superior on-site smart driving demonstration that brings people more of a sense of the power of the experience, and the technology behind it.

Focusing on driving challenges for self-driving vehicles, the WIDC competition is divided into three series, namely self-driving, smart-aided driving and information security.

The WIDC is inviting international companies, universities, colleges and research institutes to form the participating teams.
