Dongli district in Tianjin is developing a "first-launch economy" that goes beyond opening new stores, linking consumer spending, industrial innovation, and cultural tourism.
Dongli Wanda Plaza has upgraded its offerings with regional first-store openings, including DJI and the Huawei Smart Life Store. A first store is the first outlet a brand opens in a specific market — a city, region, or country. This growing cluster of debut shops has made the mall a one-stop destination for residents, turning first-store traffic into repeat spending.
Gem Mall, a new commercial project, is also taking shape in Jinzhong subdistrict, focusing on family, sports, and pets, with 13 Tianjin first-stores and 73 Dongli first-stores covering dining, cinemas, and children's play areas.
Beyond shopping, the first-launch economy is extending into industry and cultural tourism, with innovative products debuting at the third China (Tianjin) Medical Device Innovation Ecosystem Conference, showcasing how laboratory innovations can reach the market from Dongli, and an immersive performance titled "Jinxi Dongli Lake" making its debut at Dongli Lake, combining live performance and light effects.
From convenience stores and industrial debuts to cultural shows, Dongli is forming a development pattern supported by consumer spending, industrial innovation, and tourism.
